VAMPIRELLA YEAR ONE (2022)

Following the explosive conclusion to Vampirella/Dracula: Unholy comes the next chapter in Christopher Priest's Vampirella saga! Wanted for murder, and with every demon, shaman, vampire, whack-job zealot, reporter, and law enforcement officer on Earth hunting for her, Vampirella has taken refuge in an undisclosed location where she questions why she came to our world in the first place.

"The History of the World" continues! Having fled the elite underground city of New Asema to hide from Lilith's enemies, a preteen Vampirella takes refuge on the surface world, which has been ravaged by a drought caused by her mother's machinations. Taken in by a wealthy aristocrat, Vampi learns compassion for Drakulon's underclass, which leads to a comical petty theft that brings Vampi into confrontation with her mother's mysterious Lieutenant, who is certain to expose the child's secret and ruin Vampi's one chance to escape her mother's influence. All this and the origin of the planet Drakulon and the mysterious alternate reality of Earth known as Arcadia!

Once the pampered princess of Drakulon's ruling class, Vampirella was abandoned as a child in an unforgiving wasteland and subjected to abject poverty and immense hardships while being hunted by ruthless forces loyal to both her vanished mother and those determined to wipe out the House of Lilith. Now, after years on her own, Vampi is joined by a defector from her mother's regime who trains the teenage princess in the ways of survival...and of dealing death.

Lilith, the de-throned Black Queen of Drakulon, has vanished from the planet, and Dreyvant Aepostyl, her chief military general, is determined to have Vampirella ascend her mother's throne in a ruthless coup attempt to retake power. But Vampirella has plans of her own, plans that are interrupted by an unexpected arrival: a human being from planet Earth!

Vampirella's first day on Earth: In the summer of 1969 a very young Vampirella awakens in the prison ward of a municipal hospital, having been mistaken for a hooker having a dalliance with a supercollider technician. She does not know where she is, she cannot speak the language. Having rescued a human male from certain death, Vampi simply wants to find the nearest spaceport and charter a spaceflight home to Drakulon, to which end she begins her desperate search for the apparent head of Earth's interstellar transportation system - a man known only as Hugh Stone.

The series looking at unrevealed secrets from Vampirella's past comes to an end even as a new beginning takes place in the present! Vampi's horrible "Mommy Dearest" relationship with Lilith comes to a head in savage, emotional style, shaping the person Vampirella is destined to become. And if dealing with a rebellious kid wasn't enough, Lilith also finds an angry populace of Drakulon looking for blood (literally!) as a full-on revolt breaks out. In the present, Vamirella's pregnancy comes to full term. Will she spawn the scion of Dracula or "just" a half-human/half-Drakulonian kid destined to be the butt of endless jokes on the playground?
