It's been ten years since Rentt Faina, a luckless Bronze-class adventurer, set his eyes on becoming Mithril-class. Unfortunately, he finds himself helpless when confronted by a legendary dragon in the Water Moon Dungeon... and is summarily eaten. But Rentt has miraculously reawakened... as a skeleton?! Given a second chance at life, undead adventurer Rentt Faina passes the Bronze-class Ascension Exam for the second time. Sheila's suspicious of him, however, and manages to uncover his true identity. Rentt initially plays dumb, but faced with Sheila's sincerity, he relents and confesses everything to her. Now that he's a Bronze-class adventurer again, Rentt takes up a special job from an orphanage for a single bronze coin. Along the way, he gains a vampiric servant of the rodent kind. His dangerous and difficult request leads him to the treacherous Tarasque Swamp. What kind of dangers lie in wait there for our intrepid adventurer?

Undead adventurer Rentt Faina manages to survive the poisonous Tarasque Swamp and retrieve the Dragon Blood Blossom for the orphan Alize. Just as he's about to return, a mysterious stranger approaches him. The man offers him a job on behalf of his mistress, the Latuule matriarch. Rentt accepts the request, and at the behest of Sheila and the adventurer's guild, he agrees to meet with the elusive head of the Latuule family. However, there's more to this family than meets the eye. Will meeting one of the oldest and most influential families in Maalt go according to plan, or will Rentt get more than he bargained for?

Rentt Faina, the undead adventurer, agrees to take on a request from the Latuules, a highly influential yet mysterious family in Maalt. There's just one complication-in order to actually meet with them, he has to find his way through a giant hedge maze! At the end of the maze, Rentt finds the Latuule matriarch, a young girl named Laura Latuule who shows Rentt her family's prized magic item collection. Rentt is fascinated by the sheer number and variety of items, but when he accidentally activates a magic golem it's time for battle!

Thanks to Laura Latuule, Rentt achieves the next stage of evolution, and is reborn as a vampire! He returns to Maalt's Second Orphanage, both to check on Sister Lillian's health and to ask if he and Lorraine can take on Alize as an apprentice. Little does Rentt know that two figures are approaching Maalt. One is a saint of the Church of Lobelia, and the other is a famous... vampire hunter?! Can Rentt survive this duo, or will his undead life come to an end?

The last time Rentt saw vampire hunter Nive Maris, she warned him that vampires would soon attack the city of Maalt. Rentt begins to prepare for that possibility by collaborating with the adventurer's guild, but Lorraine suggests he first find the source of his divinity-his strongest weapon against the vampires. They decide to visit the shrine in Rentt's hometown of Hathara, where he got his first spark of divinity. Before they go, Rentt has to gather materials for Alize's new wand. He goes to the NewMoon Dungeon to do so and reaches a mine on the fourth floor. However, once there he encounters something unexpected and legendary-an earth dragon!

Rentt finally sets out for his home village of Hathara with Lorraine. On the way, they encounter a horde of zombies and meet Hilde, the Gold-class adventurer tasked with destroying the undead. An accomplished mystic, she sees that Rentt has divinity and offers to teach him to better conceal it. He accepts, and in the process, feels the presence of a soul that has been watching over him throughout his career. Once they finally reach Hathara, Rentt is reunited with his family and old friends. The village celebrates his return by throwing a banquet, but Rentt seems conflicted about the exaggerated welcome and disappears in the middle of the festivities. Lorraine leaves to look for him, only to find him in a very unexpected place.

Rentt and Lorraine's search for the roots of his divinity brings them to Rentt's childhood home of Hathara, and the nostalgic setting evokes memories of his past. Just as a harrowing encounter with a dragon set him upon the path of undeath, it was a wolf, a hero, and a girl named Jinlin who first inspired Rentt's dream of becoming a Mithril-class adventurer. Having overcome his former masters' trial, Rentt learns about his hometown's ancient secret. Its dizzying scope is beyond anything he could've imagined: a bloody history, a forgotten dungeon, and long-lost magic...but those are just the beginning. As Rentt and Lorraine come to grips with their discovery, Gold-Class adventurer Nive and her compatriots work to root out the vampires planning to attack Maalt. They're moving quickly to prevent tragedy from occurring, but are they already too late?
