Fumi Oono, second-year high-school student. Stuck with the debts of her father, she needs a job-fast. While she did indeed manage to find one as a housekeeper for THE Akatsuki Kibikino, it leaves much to be desired. After all, the novelist has a mean glare and an even worse attitude...And on top of that, she has to live with him?!

When Fumi started her job as the live-in housekeeper for acclaimed and very crabby author Akatsuki Kibikino, she never thought in a million years that she'd get along with him...yet here she is, heart fluttering at every tiny gesture! But she's got no time to dwell on what it could all mean-with her dad out of commission despite the loan looming over his head and the new kid at school treating her like a gopher, Fumi's got more than enough on her plate already!

Fumi finally figured out how to interact with Akatsuki somewhat normally after realizing her growing feelings for him-only to be met with a rival! How is she to compete with an adept working woman determined to snag a handsome, popular author?

Summer vacation arrives with Fumi's heart still in turmoil. Despite this, she accompanies Akatsuki and his editor Gorou on a trip to Kyoto-but when Gorou suddenly has to leave, Fumi winds up alone with the object of her affections!

Akatsuki has felt perturbed ever since he found out Fumi has had romantic feelings...not for him, but for another teacher entirely! Will the awkward novelist be able to sort out his true feelings for Fumi before it's too late?

Akatsuki finally responds to Fumi's confession-by asking her out! Will Fumi's heart be able to handle it as the two navigate the ups and downs of their new relationship?

Although they've started going out, Akatsuki inadvertently continues to make contact with Fumi as though nothing has changed at all, even coming into her futon without asking. Fumi, however, is more conscious about it than ever before. With their feelings about dating out of sync, the two are at a loss as to what to do... ?

Fumi, desperate to work things out with Akatsuki, admits to him her most heartfelt thoughts. In response, Akatsuki puts his feelings for Fumi into words too. It seems like their happiest days are finally ahead of them!

While Gorou recuperates, the sincere and straightforward Uneda takes over as Akatsuki's editor. As she watches them, Fumi can't help but feel anxious about how compatible the two seem to be. Then she overhears that Uneda and Akatsuki are set to go on a research trip to Kyoto alone?!

Upset by Uneda's confession, Fumi ends up arguing with Akatsuki and runs away from home. She goes to Gorou's house, who provokes Akatsuki by asking, 'Do you mind if I get serious about Fumi-chan?'

Fumi and Akatsuki, along with Isshin and Yoh, head out together for their first shrine visit of the new year. While ringing in the new year with one's beloved is exciting, Fumi is in for a shock when she learns of Akatsuki's tragic upbringing. Can she figure out a way to lift his spirits?
