The Nasty (2022)

Thumper Connell has always wanted to make his own scary movie, and now he has the chance. The problem is he has no cast, no crew, no equipment, no budget, and no time. What he does have, though, is a group of resourceful, horror-loving friends, a video tape with strange powers, and a hulking, spike-wielding imaginary pal. He is imaginary, right?

Meera Malik has known Thumper since they were kids. If she's going to write the script for their horror movie, and come to grips with the unsettling happenings on-set, she'll need to search for answers in her own history, both with the genre she loves and the friendship they share. Elsewhere, a moral puritan with sinister intentions is whipping up fresh hysteria against the video nasties.

Production on the Glasgow remake of House of Creeping Flesh is well underway, with the local supermarket transformed into a house of horrors for makeshift night shoots. But underneath the gory prosthetics and wooden line delivery, a very real threat is taking ever more concrete shape, growing harder for Thumper and his friends to control.
