A year has passed, and Aurora is increasingly confident in her new abilities. With the help of friends and the scientists of Vanguard, her parents' starship has been rebuilt. As the first test launch approaches, troubling visions of the future are making Aurora increasingly fearful about what awaits her in the stars.

Aurora faces a desperate choice when the test launch of her starship is interrupted and a mysterious army takes over the Vanguard base. Her friends are surrounded and outnumbered, and an old enemy is revealed. With Scott and his father held hostage, Aurora realizes there may be only one way to escape!

Adrift in deep space, Aurora and Scott come face to face with the crew of a Homeworld starship. They meet Kalen, its handsome captain, who has a surprising history with Aurora's family. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Kristine and Monica have uncovered an alien artifact that could mean the complete destruction of Earth!
