PRAIRIE GODS (2024)

Created by the artist of Nottingham, Prairie Gods is The Twilight Zone meets Sin City. Each self-contained issue centers on supernatural events and characters in and around the small prairie town of Broadacres. The series will resonate with fans of Hellboy, while the shifting genres and themes will appeal to fans of Westerns, crime, racecar movies, lost treasure serials, and war stories-with a dose of action throughout. The first exhilarating story features Freddy Davis, a champion race car driver, who has returned home to Broadacres. He buys the abandoned speedway intending to race its only undefeated driver: the Devil himself.

Ned Reade has been the Sheriff of Broadacres for as long as anyone can remember. His cold eyes, black hat, and long black coat are well-known to anyone who has stepped outside the law in his jurisdiction. While on patrol in the hills, he is alerted that the wanted fugitive, Donald Cyrus, has been sighted in a nearby town. Reade jumps into action and will use any means necessary to bring Cyrus in. Even if he has to break the laws of nature to do it.

No Man's Land. Bill Roberts, a sprightly 124-year-old, tells Freddy Davis a story about his time in WWI. While on a night-time trench raid, a shell burst and knocked him unconscious. He awoke to find a creature injecting him with healing serum. When Germans attacked the creature, Bill fought them off and took the creature to get more of the serum for itself. Once onboard its ship, the creature revealed itself to be a human woman. Bill has never been injured or had an illness since.

The Broadacres Silver Mine explosion of 1877 and the vast treasure it supposedly buried is far more than a local legend. So many treasure hunters have died trying to find it that the old abandoned mine and its museum have been shut down. No one knows more about the treasure and the legend surrounding it than former tour guide Anna Dara. When a mysterious stranger makes her an offer she can't refuse, she agrees to take him down the mine. Unfortunately for her, the stranger is hiding dangerous secrets. Unfortunately for him, so is she.

Waking up in the fiery debris of a plane crash in the middle of a blizzard can be traumatic. Especially when the last thing you remember is soaring through the sky on a clear sunny day. It's not the way that a Broadacres test pilot from the local military base thought his day would turn out. Sudden weather changes and instrument failure may have him puzzled, but he'll deal with those later. Right now he's a little more concerned about the giant wolf that's stalking the crash site.
