She is the very personification of death - or at least she WAS. When we last saw Lady Hel, she was paying the price for messing with the half-demon, Purgatori. Now deposed, Lady Hel must find a way to seize back her throne. There's just one problem: she no longer has the power to do much more than exist. Meanwhile, what happens to the world when death is no longer a fact of life? It ain't pretty! Plus: where Lady Hel goes, can Lady Demon be far to follow?

Filled with chaos, attempted murder, and an undead seagull, the story like no other continues! After an encounter with an unfriendly entity in an underworld not her own, Lady Hel finds her way to get back to her own dimension's Earth. While there, she discovers the chaotic ramifications of her defeat at the hands of the future Purgatori - and to add insult to injury, she also learns that those ramifications have brought unexpected benefits to an ancient rival - one who has no intention of Lady Hel restoring the status quo.

After her confrontation with Lady Demon, Hel has a clearer picture of how she lost control of the underworld, and realizes the only way to regain her power is to return to her realm in secrecy by using one of the hidden paths that ancient mortals once used to find their way to the other side. The only problem is that there are more obstacles on the road to the underworld than there used to be, and they're all deadly. Can Hel make it back to the underworld in one piece, or might the personification of death actually be destroyed in the attempt?

Lady Hel is back in Helheim at last, and facing off with those who tried to steal everything from her: her power, her throne, and her place in the universe. It's a good thing for them that Hel doesn't hold a grudge, right?
