The village priest Sein has no intention of becoming an adventurer, but his desire to find a long-lost friend may lead him to join Frieren's party on their journey north. They are headed for the magical city of Äußerst, where Frieren can obtain the first-class mage certification needed to enter the Northern Plateau region. Capturing a rare bird is required to pass, and everyone soon realizes that there is more at stake than simply success or failure. The first-class mage candidates begin the second exam, a dangerous expedition into the innermost depths of the Tomb of the Ruined King. This time, however, there are no teams and it's every mage for themselves. Although the examinees have overcome many physical threats, passing the first-class mage exam ultimately comes down to a simple interview with Serie, whose intuition will determine success or failure. Once the exam is over, Frieren, Fern, and Stark set out again on their journey to Aureole, the land where souls rest. While on the road, various encounters provide new challenges-though the most challenging thing Stark and Fern have to face is a date with each other! For older teen audiences.

The Northern Plateau-a wild and dangerous place, filled with monsters and other threats. Frieren once traveled it with her legendary friends now long passed. As Frieren, Fern, and Stark continue their journey in the Northern Plateau, they face many obstacles both natural and supernatural, including the Great Tor Canyon. But once across the canyon, they receive a plea for help that will take them into a legendary city of gold and a confrontation with their past selves!

Years before the end of the war against the Demon King, Macht, the most powerful of the Seven Sages of Destruction, made a deal with the lord of the fortress city of Weise in an attempt to understand human emotions. Although the deal was at first beneficial to both sides, Macht eventually transformed the entire city and all of its residents into gold. Now, the strange tale of Macht, the fate of Weise, and Denken's own past will all lead Frieren and her companions to one of their most difficult confrontations yet.

Frieren has broken the curse of Diagoldze and released herself and Denken. Now they face Macht and Solitär in a final battle of retribution. With his memories of his wife driving him, Denken challenges Macht, his former master. Frieren takes on Solitär, who is confident of victory. But demons have always underestimated Frieren, one of the greatest mages to ever live, and Macht and Solitär would do well to not count Frieren out just yet!

Upon touching the ancient monument of the Goddess, Frieren finds herself cast back in time to 53 years before the death of Himmel the Hero. Her old adventuring comrades don't know she has come from the future, and Frieren realizes she must protect the secrecy of advancements in magic from their enemies. Here, the Demon King has not yet been defeated, and his minions are still powerful and determined to destroy Frieren!

After being reunited in the past with her old friends, the Party of Heroes, Frieren looks for a way to return to the future. But the Demon King's minions want the knowledge Frieren possesses, and the powerful demon Grausam traps Frieren and Himmel in an illusion so beautiful they may never want to leave! Then a threat that's been lurking in the shadows for decades rises once again…
