DUPLICANT (2021)

Duplicant is a thriller about the forces conspiring against the one man who offers hope during a pandemic. That man is Matt Travers, a scientist who creates duplicate organs that saves humanity from the organ failure contagion... only their high cost forces people into indentured servitude. In answer to this, a dangerous black market arises which is run by a religious fanatic and Matt's former mentor. Matt Travers is haunted by the sudden death of Duplicant organ recipient Pamela Wilton. His research into whether his tech caused Pamela's death points to the possibility of a traitor in their midst, and Matt learns the Duplicant program has been taking advantage of already vulnerable people.

All evidence points to Robert Thunnel, head of the dangerous spiritual cult, The Asclepius Project, and Matt's former mentor, as the responsible party for Matt's kidnapping.
