CHANGELINGS (2022)

Changelings tells the story of a demon named Arga who must match wits and strength against Durjana, a human raised by spirits in a dark and desolate world. In this first issue, Durjana sends a giant Kaiju to attack the city of Jakarta, Indonesia and Arga must travel there to stop its swath of destruction.

We learn more about Arga's childhood past and how he met his lifelong friend Setia. Having defeated one giant Kaiju from the sea, Arga must retrieve a magical totem from a second monster. Then he and the team are  immediately pitted against Dragons from the sky who threaten to kill him and his friends.

Arga and Setia master a dragon so they can pursue another that has the totem needed for their conquest. It leads them to a volcanic mountaintop where they face a stone and magma man-a figure transformed from someone Setia knew in his youth-a traitorous coward and bully. Now this stone man is bent on destroying them both and helping Durjana at all costs.

Opening with a Steampunk Era Flashback, we see earlier incarnations of Arga and Durjana as well as Uma and Setia. They battle Durjana on the island of Sumatera and encounter Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. In the present day, a group of worshippers carry out an arcane ritual to bring Durjana to the human world.

Arga is wounded and terribly weakened from being bitten by one of Durjana's creatures. Durjana has traded bodies with Uma and plots to get the rest of the powerful totems so she can raise the city of Atlantis where the prophecies say she will bring about the dark times. Meanwhile, Uma learns more about the spirit plane where she has been trapped.

With Atlantis raised and Durjana having traded bodies with Uma, Arga confronts his enemy face to face while a giant monster rises from the deep. The real Uma, trapped in the body of the evil Changeling learns of a wall of prophecy that tells the history of all the past incarnations of Arga and Durjana and may well tell its future.
