Due to public outcry against it, all prints were gathered and destroyed, and the monster would not be seen again on the silver screen until the Universal version in 1931 that starred Boris Karloff. For nearly 80 years this film was considered one of the Top 10 lost films. Today, only one copy of Edison's Frankenstein is known to exist.
