After heading south to investigate the place known as Tomato Heaven, Maru and Kiruko head back to Tokyo via a "ferry." But they are ambushed at sea by one of the man-eating Hiruko monsters. This specific beast is amphibious, making him extremely deadly as he can easily take cover in the sea. Meanwhile in the school, Tokio, with the help of his classmate Kuku, uncovers a frightening secret. Maybe life is not what it seems at all. Maybe those who are inside the walls are not in heaven. And maybe the walls are there to keep them all inside!

After going on a wild goose chase through the badlands of Kanagawa, Kiruko and Maru are back in Tokyo where they can see a small but vibrant refugee community. But with society comes politics and economics, so now they have to turn to monster killing and odd jobs to survive in the big city.

Ninjas are deployed globally to fight international threats of different kinds, engage in politics, and deal with warfare.

Kiruko and Maru have found the origins of the mysterious bird symbol, but that information alone only leads to new problems to solve. What's worse is that they may have to travel halfway across the country to further investigate. Along the way, they run into a new form of man-eater, and this one poses questions as to whether or not they are willing to eradicate them.

Kiriko has finally found Robin. But the reunion is not all smiles. Actually it is nothing but trauma as the two realize that this is a relationship shared between three people and one of them has no current say in this reunion.

Disease and a new race of supernatural beings have nearly wiped out mankind, and two survivors are on the hunt for an oasis called Heaven.

Maru and Kiriko travel through a Japan that has been transformed into a hinderland in search of heaven. Lead by the Kiru-ray's mark which they believe is the key to finding Heaven they head for the Nara facility of Takahara Academy. However, as they wander through the forest, they are blocked by a strange figure. Meanwhile, the actual Takahara Academy is sieged by someone, and the children are protected by their attackers. At long last, the two worlds in this series are connected in this sci-fi survival drama!

Maru and Kiruko search for the raygun mark, which they believe is the key to finding 'Heaven,' and arrive at the Takahara Academy facility in Nara. There they find a prosperous town administered by the Ministry of Kansai Reconstruction. However, they are discovered by Takezuka, who has followed them. Meanwhile, the children who had been living in 'heaven' have been forced to live in the outside world, partly due to a 'catastrophe.' What will become of them?
